A personal injury lawyer is a lawyer who provides legal services to those who claim to have been injured, physically or psychologically, as a result of the negligence of another person, company, government agency or any entity. Personal injury lawyers tend to practice primarily in the area of law known as tort law. Examples of common personal injury claims include injuries from slip and fall accidents, traffic collisions, defective products, workplace injuries and professional malpractice.
I was involved in a snow tubing accident. I was told that I had a very difficult case to prove—that is, until I spoke with Jason Stone. He is a compassionate and aggressive attorney who delivers what is deserved. His staff is excellent at returning phone calls and emails, and being there sometimes just to listen. They walked me through the process each step of the way.

Try to find out who was responsible for causing the accident or injury. You should call the police and request that a report be made when you are involved in an accident that was someone else's fault. If the police do not do so, you should obtain the contact information for everyone involved and their insurance companies as well as the names and contact information of any witnesses. If you are not hurt and are able to safely take pictures of the cars and the road with your cell phone, do so.

Past damages are twofold. An accident affects not only the accident victim, but their friends and families, as well. Past damages occur as a result of the impact to both the victim and the victim’s loved ones. Everyone that is close to an accident victim will be affected in one way or another and will need to take time from their lives to support the injured victim and the victim’s family. In many cases, children of elderly individuals at home, for example, will be at a loss as a result of a disability sustained by an accident victim.
Informal Settlement - In reality, most disputes over fault for an accident or injury are resolved through informal early settlement, usually among those personally involved in the dispute, their insurers, and attorneys representing both sides. A settlement commonly takes the form of negotiation, followed by a written agreement in which both sides forgo any further action (such as a lawsuit), choosing instead to resolve the matter through payment of an agreeable amount of money.
Lifeguard negligence, defective gates, pool operator negligence, and other malfunctions can lead to the devastating circumstance of a drowning accident. If you are swimming at another person’s pool or a public pool, the owners and operators have a responsibility to make sure everyone is as safe as possible. When safety responsibilities are neglected, the results can be disastrous. Our attorneys understand that the time following a drowning accident is extremely difficult for a victim’s family, and we will do all we can to take the legal stress off you.
The days and weeks following a serious injury accident are filled with uncertainty, confusion and of course pain. A serious injury, whether caused by a vehicle collision, trip and fall, or other type of incident stemming from another party’s negligence, will be the source of the suffering in many different ways, and can throw entire families into chaos and sometimes even financial ruin.
Lawyer fees may be charged in a number of ways, including contingency fees, hourly rates, and flat fees. In many countries, personal injury lawyers work primarily on a contingency fee basis, sometimes called an if-come fee, through which the lawyer receives a percentage of a client's recovery as a fee, but does not recover a fee if the claim is not successful.[7]
In the United States, personal injury in the sense of "bodily injury" to others is often covered by liability insurance. Most businesses carry commercial general liability policies. Different states have different rules regarding auto insurance, but generally, a driver's liability insurance is available to compensate others whom that driver may inadvertently injure, and uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is available to compensate the driver for injuries inflicted upon the driver by someone else. Therefore, an insurance company will provide a legal defense to the defendant and may settle with the plaintiff (victim).
If you decide that you’d like to hire us, and we decide that our representation will make a difference in the outcome of your claim, we will explain how we charge and then have you sign a written fee agreement along with several medical authorizations so that we have your permission to obtain copies of the relevant medical records and billing statements.
A personal injury lawsuit can be pursued if you have been harmed by another’s careless, reckless or intentional acts. For example, a personal injury claim may arise after an accident caused by a distracted driver or an injury caused by a negligent medical professional. In some cases, a claim may be made based on injuries that were caused by a defectively designed, manufactured or marketed product.
Formal Lawsuit - Unlike criminal cases, which are initiated by the government, a formal personal injury case typically starts when a private individual (the "plaintiff") files a civil complaint against another person, business, corporation, or government agency (the "defendant"), alleging that they acted carelessly or irresponsibly in connection with an accident or injury that caused harm. This action is known as "filing a lawsuit". Our discussion on negligence and proof is especially helpful.

We trust physicians to do their job quickly, efficiently, and correctly. However, physicians are not immune from committing errors. When a medical professional makes a mistake, it could put your health and well-being at risk. If you experience injury or a worsened condition because of medical malpractice, you will need an attorney to represent you in the face of large hospitals or medical networks.

Although some jurisdictions have historically helped people obtain affordable legal representation, those systems have typically been narrowed and may exclude personal injury cases. For example, in England legal aid from the government was largely abolished in the late 1990s and replaced with arrangements whereby the client would be charged no fee if her or his case was unsuccessful.[8]
